9 Ways to use your Engagement Photos Leading up to your Wedding Day

A lot of my clients wonder how they can get the most out of their engagement photos and how to incorporate them on their wedding day. That’s why I’ve made this list of ways to use these photos leading up to and on your wedding day. This way, you can get the most out of these special photos and show off your new fiancé!

1 — invitations & save the dates

This is the most common way I see my couples use their engagement photos. Your engagement photos are perfect for your engagement announcement, save-the-dates, and wedding invitations!

2 — in your wedding slideshow

If you’re doing a slideshow at your wedding, this is the perfect spot for some of your engagement photos to be shown off to your friends and family.

3 — wedding website

If you skipped the traditional invites and opted for having a wedding website instead, this is the perfect place to use your engagement photos. Show off your love to your friends and family while they await the arrival of your big day!

4 — make an album or your guest book

I’ve been to one wedding where the couple used their images to create a guestbook photo album. This is such a great idea because you kill two birds with one stone; you get an album filled with your engagement photos PLUS creating a guestbook can be checked off the to-do list. Just place your engagement photos on each page with room for your guests to sign their name and a message!

Or simply create an album with your engagement photos. Imagine snuggling up on the couch, pull out your album from your bookshelf, and taking a trip down memory lane whenever you want. I’m obsessed!

5 — photo display at your wedding reception

Consider them part of the decor! I often see couples use them at the guest book table, dessert tables, at the bar, etc. Scatter them all throughout your venue so your guests can see your gorgeous engagement photos.

6 — holiday cards

Because your engagement photos give you a chance to be yourselves and take photos in something other than your wedding clothes, they're not restricted to wedding-based uses! You can use them on holiday cards during your engagement and even after you've been married. I love using Vistaprint for my holiday cards.

7 — personalized wedding favours

Think magnets, napkins, wine bottles — the options are endless! Or incorporate them with your decor — such as a sweet seating chart with their engagement photos amidst the seating arrangements. Nowadays you can have a photo printed on practically anything, so you're only limited by your own imagination (and budget!) Etsy is a great place to start looking for ideas!

8 — social media

Show off your fiancé to all your friends and family! Let's face it, you will probably be sharing a LOT of wedding updates on Facebook, Instagram, etc. in the weeks/months leading up to your wedding day. Your engagement photos offer the perfect visual to accompany all of these posts.

9 — print them & decorate your home with them

This is the one I hope all my clients opt for. There's a special thrill to seeing your photos in print, and it really is a different experience than seeing them on a screen. Printing your photos and using them to decorate your home allows you to truly live with and enjoy them while you celebrate this special time in your life together — the short time you get to call each other fiancés! Seeing your engagement photos as you make your morning coffee or while you relax on the sofa will help to keep the joy of your relationship alive for years to come.
